Far from the sea, into a lava tube!

This time I would like to post some pictures from a trip of an activity made with our Club MAREMOTU.
The short hike into the lovely birches wood led a small group of us, including children with some new fellows, to one of the eruptive vents that occurred during the 1971 activity on the east flank of Mt. Etna volcano. Here started a long lava flow that leaved a narrow and deep lava tube, one of the most didactic of the hundreds you can found in Mt. Etna.

Paola is showing the re-melted roof of the lava tube.

Me, explaining the genesis of the cave.
